Conversions & settlement
Understand payzum's crypto-in/crypto-out settlement model and how auto-convert works.
payzum is a crypto-in / crypto-out processor. There is no fiat off-ramp — funds always move between crypto assets. Settlement can happen in the same currency the buyer paid with, or in a different stablecoin after an automatic swap.
Settlement model
When a buyer pays an invoice, the funds are deposited on-chain to a merchant-owned HD-derived address. payzum does not custody these funds. From there, one of two paths applies:
- Direct payout — the funds stay in the pay currency and are sent to the payout address you configure for that chain.
- Auto-convert — the received funds are automatically swapped to your chosen stablecoin (e.g. USDC on a specific chain) and forwarded to your stablecoin forwarding address.
If you accept a chain without configuring either a payout address or auto-convert, payzum will refuse new invoices on that chain at checkout until the gap is fixed.
Enabling auto-convert
Go to Merchants → [your merchant] → Settings and find the Auto-convert payments to a stablecoin card. Toggle it on, choose your target stablecoin (symbol, chain, token standard), and enter the forwarding address where the converted amount should be sent.
The fee for each swap is expressed in basis points and is shown in the settings card. payzum monetises via the swap spread — there is no separate fiat conversion fee.
Viewing conversions
Go to Merchants → [your merchant] → Conversions to see a paginated list of all swaps triggered for this merchant.
Each row shows:
- When — timestamp of the swap.
- Invoice — the invoice that triggered the swap.
- Status — current swap status (e.g.
completed, pending, failed). - From — the source token and chain (what the buyer paid with).
- To — the destination token and chain (your configured stablecoin).
- Output — the amount of destination token received by your forwarding address.
Settlement currency can differ from the pay currency. A buyer paying in ETH on Ethereum will settle in USDC on Polygon if that is your configured stablecoin — this is handled automatically by the swap provider.
Supported swap providers
Multiple swap providers (0x, LI.FI, Jupiter, SunSwap, and optionally Thorchain) are configured at the platform level. The best route is selected automatically. Provider configuration is managed in the admin panel and does not require merchant action.
